NO Saints left behind!

This year’s 2010 Super Bowl XLIV Game between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts was held in the Sun Life Stadium, previously known as the Land Shark Stadium, in Miami, Florida…the Magic City!!!

WHO DAT NATION rose to the TOP! This is just what NOLA needed; “The Big Easy”.

Just a couple months back in October I was there when the stadium was still known as Land Shark Stadium to watch the Miami Hurricanes play the Oklahoma Sooners where Miami beat them 21-20. Being in such a vibrant city and to feed off the energy of crazy fans, like myself, is such a fulfilling sensation that only places like that can fill. My brother is currently a student at the University of Miami who warmly welcomed the Saints into the city and opened their fields for them to practice. My brother’s dorm is located next to the fields where they practiced and he was able to walk outside and see them practice, UP CLOSE. I would of done anything to have been there with him or in his spot to witness that and to be able to say I was just yards away from someone like Drew Brees and Reggie Bush.

Let’s start off by saying that the Saints started off a little slow as the 1st quarter progressed, but they quickly sped up their game without holding back up until the last executed play…there was no stopping them. The Saints went into half time down by four with a score of 6-10, but that didn’t discourage them going into the second half of the game as evidence shows that into the third quarter they scored a touchdown changing the score to 12-10 and after that they just kept successfully charging with great passes by Drew Brees and phenominal support from their defense. In the end the game finished with a score of 31-17 and Drew Brees, the Saints star QB, won MVP as we all suspected.

The Saints are bringing home the trophy to spice up New Orlean’s already cajun vibe. This will make their upcoming Mardi Gras a DEFINITE to remember…Great job Saints!!!

Yayy for Snow Days!

Can you believe it’s like Winter Break all over again!? Okayy, maybe not literally BUT, we have so far had a 4 day weekend due to an aparently abnormal amount of snow here in NC, AND at the beginning of this week we had no school on Monday, how awesome is that!?

Hopefully everyone has been able to keep warm and snuggly and at the same has been able to enjoy the beautiful, crisp white snow (thats is, when it hasn’t been ice you run into). Lastly, on a completely different subject…welcome into the second month of this already passing new year. Is it just me, or do the days literally go so quickly like the flipping of the pages in a great novel?

CLARITIN-D vs. ZYRTEC-D

Lately my allergies have been completely out of whack, and since I don’t take any prescription medicine for allergies they kind of come and go. I used to for several years, but I stopped taking them for almost 6 years now. For a couple weeks or months now I have been congested on and off, some days better or worse than the others. This is probably most likely due to the winter season.

When I began feeling this way my doctor told me to take either Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D (becuase both of them contain a combined 125 mg of an antihistamine and a nasal decongestant, and I chose to go ahead with Claritin-D. It helped my symptoms as I took it for like 2 weeks and then I wasn’t taking anything for like a month. Just recently I began taking Zyrtec-D and even though it’s technically the same thing as Claritin-D I find that it works quicker and longer, though both are said to last 12 hours.

Everyone reacts differently to different medicines, but I would definitely recommend Zyrtec-D over Claritin-D to many of my friends or anyone who has sinus pressure and reocurring congestion of any sort.

Who likes rude sales people?

Just this last weekend I needed to return and exchange an article of clothing at a boutique I usually shop at in Southpoint Mall. The store manager is a skinny, stuck up, caucasian woman who is (not to mention) a total BITCH. I don’t usually refer to anyone either than their name or unless if I’ve given them a sweet nick name but I have had it with that woman and one thing I have NO tolerance for is people who think they are better than others and freely show it.

What had happened was that I went there this weekend to return a blouse that didn’t quite fit right (WITH a receipt AND the tag still on it) and this woman is questioning me and giving me a lecture on why I am returning this shirt! The whole time I was standing there and telling myself “REALLY?” and “This woman needs to learn some proper sales etiquette.” I had the biggest urge to put her in her place because this wasn’t the first time she has said, done, or acted in some ridiculously rude fashion, but I contained myself.

SO, what I did was…

The next day a family friend of ours who also works there was working and I let her know about yesterday’s experience and the other unpleasant experiences I’ve had with this lady and it turns out she has gotten several other complaints from other customers about this lady’s nasty behavior and she confessed to me that she doesn’t treat her so well either. (If it were me and I worked there I wouldn’t be able to put up with someone like her.) So what I did was I had her give me the store manager’s name, the store number, and the Corporate number to file a complaint. I usually don’t accustom to doing these kind of things, but enough was enough and sometimes people (like her) need to be taught a lesson and treat people with more decency, because no human being is any better than any other human being. I don’t wish for her to get fired or for her misfortune, but I hope she gets scolded and hopefully she changes her way of thinking and acting.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!? Another year is just about to fly by us! 5 DAYS LEFT OF 2009! Time literally has no restraints and we have to savour every moment and not take for granted the courses life leads us through. I wish everyone a Happy New Year full of love, happiness, and health and that good things await everyone as well as unexpected surprises…because who doesn’t love pleasant surprises, right!?

(After) Christmas Shopping!

Christmas is now over, but not the holiday season! Christmas Day is a pleasant, warm day but unfortunately everything is closed on this day…(except Walgreens because they’re ALWAYS open!) What’s fun is going shopping after Christmas because the sales are HUGE and amazing! This doesn’t just apply to women (and men) who love to (clothes) shop because appliances and electronics go on major sale as well…especially in BEST BUY.

Hopefully everyone has/had the chance to enjoy the great offers and hopefully everyone enjoyed their Christmas, Hanukkah, and holidays…2010 is just around the corner! WOO-HOO!

The Nutcracker

Saturday night I went to see the Nutcracker with my good friend Alena at the Carolina Ballet Theatre. Both of us have an appreciation for dance and theatre and we had a lot of fun going to see it together. We went because both of us love The Nutcracker and we went in particularly to see a friend from school, Emily Neyhart. She had several roles but her most important and shining one was the role as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Huge props Emily Neyhart…you had beautiful technique, turn out, and gracefulness!! She did phenomenal to say the least. The show started at 7 pm and didn’t end until around 10ish. Afterwards, we saw a couple friends that are now in college and we very scarecly see, so that was nice as it was a complete surprise and we were able to catch up with them. Once we left the theatre, Alena and I went to Bojangles for some late night dining and it hit the spot…it was just what we needed.

The Nutcracker is such a great show to go watch, especially for the holiday season. I was in it with a dance company a couple years ago and in my opinion there is nothing more magical than it. It is any little girl’s fantasy to watch it and taking part in it is a feeling that I cannot put into words. Dance is so beautiful, especially ballet as it is so angelic. Triangle Youth Ballet put up this function/show and it was nicely done, congradulations!

DAMN LABS.

This entire weekend (12/12- 12/13) I worked entirely on labs for my AP Environmental class. I never want to see another sheet of paper, pens, or tape in my LIFE (but that is simply wishful thinking). My friends and I worked OVER 15 hours (at least) on 4 lab assignments. The funny thing is that they don’t involve a lot of critical thinking…just a lot of writing and for one in particular lab, a crap load of annonymous research. Two out of four (including myself as a person) of us went to bed at like 2 am and my good friend Ashley and I stayed up until 5 am, and I swear we had to have been high off of oxygen because we could not stop laughing and singing to Britney Spears like idiots. Considering what time it was, we weren’t even tired until finally I think our body realized it needed to turn off and SLEEP. In the end it was quite fun/funny, but that is probably because I was with my really good friends and we were so tired and physically/mentally numb that everything seemed funny and fun…plus we ate a lot of good old unhealthy American food.

We started working on labs around lunch time on Saturday but luckily, I took a nice break in between because I went to see the Nutcracker from 7 pm to 10ish Saturday night with another really good friend of mine who lives in Garrett Farms where I was already in working with my group of friends on labs. At 11ish I went back to my other friend’s house to continue working on our labs and to watch Saturday Night Live. We woke up to HUGE belgian chocolate waffles. I smothered mine with syrup and whipped cream. (YUMM!, who’s counting calories anyway, right?) Finally I made it back home for the first time this weekend at like 6ish and now its 10:41 pm and I am working on this blog and then another one. Then, I have to make a long poem for AP Spanish and put the finishing touches on my lab notbook…FML (I am laughing as I write this because I am just waiting to be told that I am being PUNK’d.) Ohhh, what a pleasant/healthy lifestyle =)

William Levy is one of the most famous and well-known actors in the spanish entertainment industry and even to some english entertainment viewers, like my good friend Alena Welch We have to admit that we have a little thing for him, haha.

William Levy was born August 28, 1980 in Havana, Cuba. He started off his career as a model then worked his way to starring in Telemundo (a spanish viewing channel) reality shows such as Isla de la Tentacion (Temptation Island). His first big break was when he landed the lead role with the beautiful Mexican actress and singer Maite Perroni in the telenovela (television soap opera) Cuidado con el Angel (Be careful with the Angel), in which the “Angel (good girl)” was Maite Perroni.

William Levy is currently in a telenovela as the lead actor who plays a rich millionaire along with another beautiful Mexican actress and model, Jacqueline Bracamontes in Sortilegio, which means (love) spell in Spanish.

He is truly one of a kind; not only is he gorgeous but extremely talented.

Winter Break is just around the corner!

Thanksgiving break was about a week ago, and we just recently got back from it and now we are just days away from our Winter break! Woo-hoo! This is about our longest (Winter) break ever as it begins on the 18th of December and we return on the 5th of January, 2010! It is absolutely astounding how time literally flies by us so quickly. Besides the fact that we all are in much need of another break we also get to look forward to the festive holidays, presents, and the new year!

As for me, my brother comes home from college on the 17th and I am so excited! I haven’t seen him in months and its about time. He will be here for an entire month and I cannot wait. That will probably be the highlight of my break besides Christmas and awaiting the new year. Happy (upcoming) Holidays to everyone! <3
